Looking after your teeth.

Year 4 are looking at the best ways to care for our teeth this week. We have used some disclosure tablets to show how much plaque can stay on our teeth if we do not brush them carefully. Here 4CW are exploring how to clean their teeth effectively.

Team work makes the dream work

Year 4 are being authors this week and writing a Playscript that they will act out later next week.
The playscripts are all about going to the 'Demon Dentist'.
We are looking forward to watching the final plays.

Hidden Sugars

Y4 are researching the sugar in the foods we eat by reading the nutritional information on the packaging and checking it with the Sugar Smart app. They are then keying it into a spreadsheet. There has been a few surprises at how much a little bit of food can affect our recommended daily allowance.

Wednesday 15 November 2017

Year 4 are using Mr. Warhurst’s old comic annuals to write play scripts.  We love The Beano and it’s a great way to encourage writing.

A big thank you

A huge thank you to our parents for coming to watch us sing our new class song and then watch our silent movies. The children were very proud of themselves, as they should be.

A Recipe For A Storm

Today 4CW were using their Tempest workshops to write a recipe for a terrible storm at sea, using a mix of Shakespearean language, imperative verbs and brilliant imaginations.

A video

Imagine what it must have been like on a ship trapped in a storm during the 17th Century. 4CW lived it!

Exciting Stuff!

4CW were the first children ever to find a Spring Tail at Solaris. In 15 years no one had seen one in the pond. Very exciting!

Pond Dipping

4CW have done their second visit to the pond at Solaris to see how it changes over the year. We found that there was a big change in temperature and mini beasts.
What does it mean to be a leader or a follower? In our Tempest workshop today we assumed both roles and experienced the fun and frustrations felt.

Remainders.

A lot of grown ups panic when asked to divide with a remainder. Research shows that letting children teach each other how to do something provides great results.  Here we are teaching each other how to divide two digit numbers where there will be a remainder.

The Tempest!

Today 4CW have been learning about Shakespeare's The Tempest. We had lots of discussion and acted out how we would feel if we were lost on an island in a storm.

Spelling Bee!

This week we had the second round of our school Spelling Bee. The best spellers in Y3&4 battled it out in these semi finals to find our top speller. Everyone of them was a credit to Thames, their family and themselves. The next round will be soon!

Outdoor Education

Thames has a proud new tradition of outdoor education, giving the children a chance to get out of Blackpool and enjoy nature. 4CW love it! This is our trip to Beacon Fell.

New posts coming very soon!

Sorry about the delay! New posts are imminent!
