Little Wolf's Book of Badness.

4T have finished our class novel and used it for our new hall display. The children wrote 9 rules of goodness to balance against the 9 rules of badness from the story. Little Wolf wanted to earn his bad badge, so the children made themselves a good badge to add to the display.

Now on to our new book, selected by the children....

Roman coins.

The Roman Empire may have been built on  conflict but it worked on money. Whether a sestertius or denarius, every Roman needed some coins.

Year 4 were creating their own coins using themselves to portray the head of the Emperor.

Romans Vs Celts!

A huge welcome to our new Year 4! This year is going to be brilliant!. To kick off our new topic I AM WARRIOR we took Y4 to the park and drilled them as Roman soldiers. Marching, launching javelins and withstanding attacks by the fearsome Celtic warbands. The children took the role of both Celt and Roman to experience what it was like to march through a forest and suddenly be attacked.

No Romans or celts were hurt in the process.

 PREPARE TO LAUNCH PILAE
 LAUNCH PILAE!
Mr Warhurst was the enemy, he had to dodge a lot!

Should she or shouldn't she?

Today we were debating whether Granny should tell Ben that she is an international jewel thief. Our class book is Gangsta Granny. Below the children are taking part in a Conscience Alley to try and convince each other to change their opinion.

Fit2Go

On Friday we had Anthony in to continue our work on healthy living and healthy bodies. This week Year 4 did LOTS of circuit training (with lots of water breaks). After that they checked their pulses to see how exercise affected them.

Y4 are Computer Coders!

Today Y4  proved their digital credentials through a day of computer programming.  We used the software Scratch to animate (with sound) a character using algorithms. In one day we have gone from following a set plan to creating our own, truly unique, animations.

Y4 Writing Pool

US TV shows often use a writing pool to create a script. Today we tried this. A writer brought their story plan to a pool of other children and asked their opinion and for  to improve it.

Tuesday 1 May 2018

Roman Numerals

Today Y4 were learning all about Roman Numerals. We did this through lots of different ways, including playing Snakes and Ladders.

Trip to Wyre Estuary Country Park

Fab weather, amazing activities and great children! What a wonderful day 4CW had at Wyre Estuary Country Park. The children built their own shelters, went hunting and even built fire pits. Whilst there we also gathered resources to build our Native American Longhouses.

Old but good!

Hello Parents and Friends of Y4. I was going through some photos and I realised I had not put these up from last half term. This is a science study about chemical reactions. The children created carbon dioxide using acetic acid and effervescent tablets.

Conductivity!

Year 4 are experimenting to find out which materials are good conductors and which ones are insulators. Instead of being shown what to do, the children were given the equipment and told to work out their own experiment and recording system.
